Flight arrangements

1. There are weekly flights between Kaohsiung and Dongsha Island. Extra flights are available in summer. These flights are chartered by Coast Guard Agency and Dongsha Atoll Marine National Park for workers on the island. DARS is allocated two seats per flight in 2013 for its own staff and visiting scientists. Special arrangements are possible if more than two seats are needed, and the requests need to be made well in advance.
2. Due to short runway, some flights have to be cancelled or aborted upon inclement weather. A make-up flight may be arranged in the next days in these situations. You are advised to plan your connecting flights flexibly.
3. Due to transport of fresh vegetables and fruits, carry-on and checked-in luggage are each limited to 5 Kg per passenger in Kaohsiung to Dongsha flights (but not on return flights). A group could lump their overall allowance. This rule is enforced, since the flights are usually fully occupied. All other equipments, supplies and luggage should be shipped by ferry (see Ferry).
4. The round-trip ticket costs 6206 NT, in 2013. (or about 210 US$ at the exchange rates of Feb, 2013)
5. Pls see flight schedule of 2013 in the appendix
6. Military planes depart and return to Pingtung, a city ~20 Km from Kaohsiung.
